Recent Photo Trips
Norfolk - September 2010
I have just come back from a 10 day trip; calling at Derbyshire and Lincolnshire before spending a week in Norfolk. The weather was great and although there were not great numbers of birds I was able to get some nice images of some species that I have not photographed before.
Sparrowhawk Island, Cheshire - September 2010
Having been privileged to receive an invitation to go to Sparrowhawk Island, on the way back to North Wales from Norfolk I called in to meet up with Dave Culley and Neill Carden (of Stealth Wildlife). I spent the morning with Dave who told me about the project that he has dedicated the last ten years of his life to, since moving to this tranquil and peaceful place. He has transformed his garden into a haven of natural beauty that is adorned by very many sprecies of birds, including Sparrowhawks which nest 60 feet from his back door. It was not only a privilege but a pleasure to meet Dave and to have the opportunity to see footage of truly wild birds in their own natural environment.

Cairngorms - December 2010
I decided to make the most of the winter weather and head up to the Cairngorms for Christmas and New Year. It was a long journey, especially in the winter conditions, but the stunning scenery along the way was well worth the effort. The days were short and I had to make the most of the light. I hoped to concentrate on Red Squirrels and Crested Tits...I was not disappointed. Needless to say there was loads of snow, and it was truly beautiful. I hope you enjoy the photo's.
Cairngorms - February/March 2011
I re-visted the Cairngorms again, along with good friend and renowned wildlife photographer Andrew Parkinson. We were lucky enough to have some good weather, especially on the day we walked to the top of the Cairngorms and had a fantastic afternoon photographing Ptarmigan. We got a bit carried away making the most of the late afternoon light, and ended up descending in the Scottish twilight. I also managed to spend some time photographing Mountain Hares and Crested Tits, although alas no snow at the lower levels. I hope that you enjoy the photographs.

Shetland Isles - May/June 2011
Shetland is a stunningly beautiful place. I was planning on four weeks of photography; hoping to concentrate on the waders and sea birds that adorn it's shores, voe's, moors and cliffs during the breeding season. I made a good start in the North Isle's in the first two weeks. I photographed Gannets at Hermaness (Unst), Golden Plover and Dunlin on Unst, Red Necked Phalarope and Red Throated Divers on Fetlar. Back on mainland Shetland I managed a couple of glimpses (and photographs) of Otters and Mountain Hares. However, by the end of the third week, at the start of a trip to Noss, I managed to sprain my ankle and end up in a cast! Although the photography was cut short, I have managed to get some nice images and hope that you enjoy browsing through the additions to the website.
